And really, why not? It&#8217;s just so easy.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The <a href=\"http:\/\/fresnobeehive.com\/news\/2009\/09\/why_restore_a_river_climate_ch.html\">Fresno Bee points out<\/a> a <a href=\"http:\/\/er.uwpress.org\/cgi\/reprint\/27\/3\/330\">new study in the Journal Ecological Restoration<\/a> about why we should be restoring riparian habitats. &nbsp;With the growing effects of climate change, this becomes more than an academic question.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The Governor has officially lost their furlough fight with the State Compensation Insurance Fund, as a judge today <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sacbee.com\/static\/weblogs\/the_state_worker\/2009\/09\/ruling-on-scif-back-pay-finali.html?mi_atom=The%20State%20Worker\">forced the state to give back pay<\/a> to workers. &nbsp;The SCIF isn&#8217;t even paid with state money. &nbsp;What a stupid act of grandstanding this was.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Here&#8217;s an under-the-radar but persistent trend &#8211; the Governor typically appoints people to corporate boards <a href=\"http:\/\/latimesblogs.latimes.com\/lanow\/2009\/09\/gov-appoints-businessman-who-employed-his-chief-of-staff.html\">people with whom he has a personal relationship<\/a>. &nbsp;His own dentist <A href=\"http:\/\/articles.latimes.com\/2007\/apr\/02\/local\/me-appointees2\">sits on the state Dental Board<\/a>, to add another example.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The groups authoring initiative language on a constitutional convention <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sacbee.com\/static\/weblogs\/capitolalertlatest\/025683.html?mi_rss=Capitol%20Alert\">has decided to delay their filing<\/a> while they continue to work out the details. &nbsp;This would move them past the suggested deadline, tightening the window for signature gathering. &nbsp;They plan to file within a few weeks.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Whoops!
