USGS gives it a <a href=\"http:\/\/earthquake.usgs.gov\/earthquakes\/recenteqsww\/Quakes\/ci14607652.php#details\">preliminary magnitude of <strike>6.9<\/strike> 7.2<\/a> and it was centered in northeastern Baja California, about 50 miles south of Yuma, near the mouth of the Colorado River.<\/p>\n<p>We didn&#8217;t feel it here in Monterey, but all my SoCal family and friends on Twitter and Facebook sure did.<\/p>\n<p>No reports of damage yet, though with a quake of this size, I&#8217;m sure there will be at least (and hopefully nothing more than) minor damage in the Imperial Valley and cities like El Centro and Mexicali.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At about 3:40 PM, people across Southern California felt a long, strong earthquake.
