{"id":13783,"date":"2011-08-17T15:22:46","date_gmt":"2011-08-17T15:22:46","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2011-08-17T15:22:46","modified_gmt":"2011-08-17T15:22:46","slug":"villaraigosa-takes-on-prop-13","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/calitics.com\/index.php\/2011\/08\/17\/villaraigosa-takes-on-prop-13\/","title":{"rendered":"Villaraigosa Takes on Prop 13"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><i>LA Mayor Takes Steps towards state politics<\/i><\/p>\n<p>by Brian Leubitz<\/p>\n<p>Since Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa opted out of the 2010 Governor&#8217;s race, he has been fairly quite on state level politics. &nbsp;However, he stepped right up, and at the Sacramento Press Club, took on Prop 13:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>He implored politicians to muster the courage to stop shying away from the third rails in California politics, including Prop. 13\u2032s property tax on businesses and the constitutional requirement for a two-thirds vote on taxes.<\/p>\n<p>And he framed it as direct challenge to Gov.
