legislative session, the legislature sent on a number of notable bills to consider. &nbsp;However, none will get the attention of SB202, which will push initiatives put on the ballot by signature back where they should have been in the first place: the general election.<\/p>\n<p>When the <a href=\"https:\/\/calitics.com\/diary\/13810\/an-overdue-initiative-reform-general-elections-only\">idea came up<\/a> a few weeks ago, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.calbuzz.com\/2011\/08\/hot-rumor-labor-scheme-to-push-initiatives-to-nov\/\">CalBuzz did a nice look<\/a> at the history of initiative timing. &nbsp;Long story short, signature based initiatives were always on either a special election called by the governor or the general election. &nbsp;The constitution did not envision a raft of them on various primary elections.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, what Jerry Brown will do with this measure is never an easy question. &nbsp;You would think that he would support this measure, but there are several measures that looked set for approval that met Brown&#8217;s veto stamp. &nbsp;But, if it does go through, the two measures that have already qualified will stay on the June ballot. &nbsp;However, I&#8217;m sure the measures in question, a term limits reform that switches all terms to 12 years and the tobacco tax for cancer, would rather be on a November ballot.<\/p>\n<p>The other big news was that the Amazon deal was also <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.sacbee.com\/capitolalertlatest\/2011\/09\/bill-to-create-for-paycards.html\">approved by the Legislature<\/a>. &nbsp;The deal <a href=\"https:\/\/calitics.com\/diary\/13833\/the-amazon-deal\">was hammered out a few days ago<\/a> and remains basically unchanged since then.<\/p>\n<p>In other legislation, Jerry will also see legislation on:<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<li>Stopping the sale of alcohol at <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.sacbee.com\/capitolalertlatest\/2011\/09\/governor-to-decide-if-booze-bu.html\">grocery self-checkouts<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>An extension of the <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.sacbee.com\/capitolalertlatest\/2011\/09\/assembly-sends-filmmaker-tax-c.html\">film tax credit<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>A <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.sacbee.com\/capitolalertlatest\/2011\/09\/regulatory-review-bill-goes-to.html\">regulatory review bill<\/a>.<\/li>\n<p>You can find more examples at the <a
