However, don&#8217;t tell MSNBC that, as they have a big headline on their homepage announcing that &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.msnbc.com\/morning-joe\/ronald-calderon-california-lawsuit-bribes-senate-democrats\">Corruption suit costs Dems control of state<\/a>&#8221; despite it actually doing nothing of the sort. (UPDATE: It now says &#8220;Dems lose supermajority in key state.&#8221; Not sure why they couldn&#8217;t say California, but hey, headline writers, amiright?)<\/p>\n<p>On the more practical side of things, surely this will be annoying for Calderon&#8217;s constituents. However, the fact that he is not actually resigning means that the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/local\/political\/la-me-pc-ron-calderon-resign-decision-election-20140225,0,3826110.story#axzz2uvsuBpVT\">rather expensive process<\/a> of a special election will likely be avoided. &nbsp;The election would have been for a seat that has been redistricted out of existence, and would only have been filled for a few months by the time all is said and done.
