Everybody gets into the act, but my fave was the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.economist.com\/world\/britain\/displayStory.cfm?story_id=13395767&amp;source=features_box4\">Economist Magazine&#39;s Amusement Park idea<\/a>.&nbsp; Boy, I wish we could just have that everyday! Anyway, to the links:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&nbsp;Steve Poizner is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfgate.com\/cgi-bin\/article.cgi?f=\/c\/a\/2009\/04\/02\/BALJ16R90J.DTL&amp;feed=rss.bayarea\">already attacking Jerry Brown<\/a>, pointing out that he, gasp, has been in public office for a long time. <\/li>\n<li>Asm. Anthony Portantino&#39;s <a href=\"https:\/\/calitics.com\/showDiary.do?diaryId=7650\">AB 53 salary freeze measure<\/a> moved out of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sacbee.com\/politics\/story\/1748372.html?mi_rss=State%2520Politics\" target=\"_blank\">assembly&#39;s public employees committee<\/a>. <\/li>\n<li>California <strike>Backward<\/strike> Forward <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sacbee.com\/static\/weblogs\/capitolalertlatest\/021220.html?mi_rss=Capitol%20Alert\">endorsed all 6 ballot measures<\/a> for the May 19 ballot, and I can&#39;t think of a better reason to vote against them all than that.<\/li>\n<li>I know that most of us here style ourselves as much better budgeters than the legislature.  Now we can prove it.  Over at <a href=\"http:\/\/next10.org\/challenge\">Next10<\/a> you can take the &#8220;California Budget Challenge&rdquo; and try to balance California&#39;s books yourself. The fun of an online game like Doom with the subject matter fit for long subcommittee hearings on 5-year projections of discretionary spending.  What&#39;s not to like?<\/li>\n<li>Ooh, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pe.com\/localnews\/politics\/stories\/PE_News_Local_S_power02.40160a0.html\">decentralized leadership in the GOP<\/a>? Well, isn&#39;t that something. <\/li>\n<li>California Blue Dog, who&#39;s a complete moron, thinks it <a href=\"http:\/\/calbluedog.wordpress.com\/2009\/04\/02\/in-kind-in-reverse-is-perverse\/\">very untoward<\/a> to have Executive Secretary Treasurer of the LA County Labor Fed, Maria Elena Durazo, deliver the Democratic weekly radio address.  Neglecting, of course, that Durazo&#39;s late husband, Miguel Contreras, worked with Chavez, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chavezfoundation.org\/_cms.php?mode=view&amp;b_code=006000000000000&amp;b_no=500&amp;page=1&amp;field=&amp;key=&amp;n=2\">was a Founding Member of the Chavez Foundation<\/a>.  So CalBlueDog&#39;s beef, as I understand it, is &#8220;person with knowledge of Cesar Chavez shouldn&#39;t deliver address about Cesar Chavez.&#8221;  Anyone know which Sacramento consultant this tool is?<\/li>\n<li>Asm. Fiona Ma&#39;s bill, <a href=\"http:\/\/info.sen.ca.gov\/cgi-bin\/postquery?bill_number=ab_223&amp;sess=CUR&amp;house=B&amp;site=sen\">AB 223<\/a>, to force San Francisco to reinstate JROTC <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfgate.com\/cgi-bin\/article.cgi?f=\/c\/a\/2009\/04\/02\/BAL816R2HM.DTL&amp;hw=ma+jrotc&amp;sn=001&amp;sc=1000\">made it out of committee<\/a> with thanks to Republican votes.&nbsp; I don&#39;t care how you feel about JROTC, but the state forcing one school district to offer one specific elective is not a good idea. In fact, San Francisco&#39;s other Assembly member, Tom Ammiano said the bill was an attempt to &#8220;bully a local school board.&#8221;&nbsp; Hopefully, this bill will see be buried in the Assembly and never make it across the hall. <\/li>\n<li>And finally, apparently even the uber-rich ride Southwest Airlines. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sacbee.com\/static\/weblogs\/capitolalertlatest\/021201.html\">Capitol Alert informs <\/a>us that Poizner and Whitman were on the same Southwest flight this week.
