Something positive about the budget. &nbsp;Well, sort of. &nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/californiascapitol.com\/blog\/?p=407\">Corporate tax revenues are up<\/a>. That&#8217;s good, but it is really only because a budget bill from last year SB 28 1X required corporations to frontload their annual tax payments in the first two quarters of the year.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Following <a href=\"https:\/\/calitics.com\/diary\/9137\/credit-agencies-put-california-on-watch-list\">S&#038;P&#8217;s watch report on California&#8217;s credit rating<\/a>, Moody&#8217;s has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sacbee.com\/static\/weblogs\/capitolalertlatest\/023262.html?mi_rss=Capitol%20Alert\">done the same<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Moody&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sacbee.com\/static\/weblogs\/capitolalertlatest\/023262.html?mi_rss=Capitol%20Alert\">isn&#8217;t entirely sanguine about our budget mess<\/a> either, joining Standard and Poor&#8217;s by placing California on a credit watch list. <\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.calparks.org\/\">California State Parks Foundation<\/a> has had success with their recent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.calparks.org\/takeaction\/\">action items<\/a>. They&#8217;ve sent over <a href=\"http:\/\/www.capitolweekly.net\/article.php?_c=y2b6vq11ijhvlh&#038;xid=y2b6gc8n12lsrh&#038;done=.y2b6vq11ik2vlh\">125,000 letters in support of the state parks<\/a>. It really isn&#8217;t that surprising as state parks are commonly used by fairly politically aware people who were jolted into action by Arnold&#8217;s call to close most of the state parks. We <a href=\"https:\/\/calitics.com\/diary\/8994\/hiding-our-natural-resources\">mentioned it 3 weeks ago<\/a>, but if you haven&#8217;t done so, how about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.calparks.org\/takeaction\/\">taking some action<\/a> for the parks? <\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Shira Tarrant does not like the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/shira-tarrant\/california-college-up-in_b_217702.html\">proposed cuts to the CSU<\/a>. Under the budget committee&#8217;s plan, CSU and UC take equal cuts to their budget.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 John Myers has <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kqed.org\/capitalnotes\/2009\/06\/18\/budget-week-wrap-up-june-18\/\">a good wrap-up of some loose ends<\/a> about the Dems&#8217; budget deal. &nbsp;Meanwhile, the California Budget Project <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbp.org\/pdfs\/2009\/090619_Budget_Comparison.pdf\">did a side-by-side comparison<\/a> of the Dems&#8217; budget and the Governor&#8217;s. &nbsp;Check it out.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 One area of success in the Prop 8 campaign? <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/domesticNews\/idUSTRE55I02M20090619\">Asian-American votes swung in favor of marriage equality rapidly<\/a>. Asian-Americans supported the ban in Prop 22 in 2000 by a 36 point margin.
