Calitics Community,
My name is Michael Maheras. I am a liberal activist.
Furthermore, I’m a District Level Delegate Candidate (CA-33) pledging my unwavering support to Barack Obama. I recently moved into this district from Chicago, where I have supported Obama since his run for Senate.
I’ve been involved in net based and media activism since the early 90’s.
As a production assistant, I worked on a nationally broadcast PBS documentary series called “The 90’s.” As part of the show, I had the privilege to assist on an “Election Special” featuring video vérité packages – War Room style clips, of luminaries like Rahm Emanuel and David Wilhilm in action during the 1992 Democratic Primary in Illinois.
In 1993, I took it a step further and ran for Municipal Trustee in my hometown within Henry Hyde’s congressional district (IL-6). I ran on a progressive platform and proffered, out of environmental concerns, a 2% tax on all Beef and Beef by-products. This idea was not as well received as it was conceived.
In 1996, while working at a broadcast media outlet in Chicago, I worked collaboratively with other mainstream and indy-media professionals to produce a website for the Democratic Host Committee; Chicago96.org. My efforts included producing same-day, multi-media content including video and audio packages from within the convention hall and from the “demonstration pits.” The website was heralded by the New York Times and offered live streaming video from within the media tent.
Most recently, I’ve been active in a grassroots capacity: phone-banking, promulgating and proselytizing on behalf of the next President of the United States: Barack Obama.
I posted a trove of information, including my agenda, reasons I support Barack, links to my activism on behalf of Barack and other related biographical information on my website:
I might also direct your attention the caucus finery I’m offering on my website. It summons the spirit of my effort and portends the nature of the deliverables I will bring as Delegate for CA-33.
As you know you can vote/caucus for multiple candidates, I hope to first among them. Or at least; among them.
Waggish Regards,
Michael Maheras
