Free Tibet: San Francisco March

After the jump are a whole bunch of pics. The SFPD set a very laid back tone by leaving the riot gear at home and to date there have been no arrests (there was one arrest, but he apparently was just a regular San Francisco “crazy guy” and while in proximity to the protesters, had nothing to do with them).

I’ll have more from the Candle Light vigil tonight. And if I can catch a ride, then pics from Jackie Speier’s party.

Video: Iraq War 5th Anniversary in San Francisco

Five years ago today, I went to check out the San Francisco protests with one of my interns. Today, I went downtown to Market and Montgomery at noon and in retrospect am quite glad I didn’t bring anyone with me. I did however, bump into my buddy Luke Thomas from Fog City Journal. You’ll see him in some of the pics below (with his bright pink SFPD press pass clearly visible against his black jacket). He’s also in the video, trying to protect his camera while he is treated like a human pinball. This is the craziest video I’ve ever shot.

Before the video, here are some pics to set the stage.

The casket approaches the intersection for a die in.

Die In

More cameras start appearing and lots of people taking cell phone pics.

Die In

Speaking of cameras, there’s Luke Thomas:

This was extremely peaceful at this point.

I mean, laid back even.

And then, this happened…

Cops Use Youtube to Settle Scores with Gavin Newsom?

Although Gavin Watch has been around less than a month, their timing and video focus have positioned them to play a major role in the 2007 mayoral race narrative. In addition to the content they produce, they also scour the internet tubes for links.

Today, they found a youtube video that appears to be a well produced attack on Newsom as payback for the Bayview Station scandal. SFPD, Gleegate, and the Newsom scandal all in one video?
