Well, this isn’t a huge surprise, but Assemblyman Anthony Adams is making it official.
Republican Assemblyman Anthony Adams announced today that he will not run for re-election.
The two-term assemblyman from Hesperia recently survived a recall effort launched in response to his votes for temporary tax increases included in the February budget package. Proponents fell about 11,000 signatures short of qualifying the recall for the ballot. (CapAlert)
Of course, this is why I didn’t understand wasting the money on the effort to recall Adams. After all, they wouldn’t have gained but a few months if they had succeeded in recalling him. Even though he was spared the recall election, he would have had a big challenge in the GOP primary.
Despite the fact that I agree with the guy about 10% of the time, you have to admire his decision to put the interests of the state ahead of his own political future.
