Neil Pople for Roseville City Council

My name is Neil Pople, and I am writing to ask for your support in my candidacy for the Roseville City Council in 2010.

Many of you remember me from my work as Online Communications Director for Charlie Brown for Congress (CA-04) in 2008. I also served as a Regional Field Director for Hillary Clinton during the presidential primaries in New Hampshire and California, and was Charlie Brown’s Deputy Communications Director in 2006. I’ve been a lifelong Democrat and a frequent commenter/lurker here for 5 years now.

I’ve entered this race because I know that we have opportunities to create positive change in Roseville. I hope to forge a new path for the city through its next phase of growth & development. As we recover from a rough economic year, Roseville is facing new opportunities and unfamiliar challenges. Roseville stands on a precipice, and success or failure rests squarely on our shoulders. We are going to need new vision and guidance to lead city development, and I hope you will support me in my effort to make Roseville all it can be.

I am confident we can maintain both economic vitality and quality of life in Roseville. We have an amazing opportunity to seize the moment & make Roseville the regional leader in Smart Growth and high-tech green collar jobs.  I know that Roseville is ready to expand its economic horizons and move forward with plans for a four-year university to educate the next generations. I know that Roseville succeeds when our students succeed, and I will push hard to make Roseville a shining example for the rest of the area.

I am eager to tackle the challenges ahead. My experience on the Roseville Transportation Commission, years of work in public service and dedication to innovative ideas qualifies me for this position on the city council. I have lived in Roseville for nearly 22 years, and I have seen this city grow from a quiet stop along Interstate 80 to a bustling metropolis of shopping, restaurants, and beautiful homes. I have seen Roseville’s past, and I am eager for what’s next.

In addition to being supported by the Sacramento Stonewall Democrats, Placer County Young Democrats and the Lorenzo Patino Counil of LULAC (League of United Latin American Citzens), I am being supported by a wide array of Democratic leaders like:

-Dave Jones, State Assemblyman (AD 9) and nominee for State Insurance Commissioner

-Delaine Eastin, former State Superintendent of Public Instruction

-Eric Bauman, Vice Chair of the California Democratic Party

-Alex Gallardo Rooker, Vice Chair of the California Democratic Party

-Roger Dickinson, Sacramento County Supervisor and nominee for State Assembly (AD 9)

-Phil Serna, Sacramento County Supervisor elect

 -Evan Low, Mayor of Campbell

 -Tim Sbranti, Mayor of Dublin

 -Walt Scherer, Mayor of Loomis

 -Art Pimentel, Mayor of Woodland

-Ken Cooley, Mayor of Rancho Cordova

-Mitch Ward, Mayor of Manhattan Beach

 -Steve Cohn, Sacramento City Council

 -Kevin McCarty, Sacramento City Council

In order to win in November, I need your help.

To be successful in this endeavor it will take a very strong and dedicated grass roots organization. With thousands of brochures to purchase, hundreds of yard signs to order, scores of print, radio & cable ads to place as well as an aggressive online presence, I will need help. I am turning to you and humbly inviting you to get involved in my campaign and help make a difference.

Your gift of $25, $50, $100, or the maximum donation level of $500 will help me raise the vital funds I need to successfully launch this campaign.

I appreciate all the kind words and encouragement I’ve received from everyone so far. My website, http://www.neilpople.com, is up and running. Please check it out and feel free to contribute by clicking the “donate” icon on the main page. If you have a moment, please be sure to add my page on facebook as well!
