• Bland coverage from the SF Chronicle, by Wildermuth and Marinucci.  “He loves Arnold!” “He’s a tax-lover!”  The piece is largely context free.
• Similar by Kevin Yamamura from the Sacramento Bee.
• Edwin Garcia of the Mercury News does a better job of conveying the flavor of the debate.  Viewers will have to judge for themselves when it airs at 10.00 Saturday Morning on Univision.
• Michael Finnegan of the LA Times does the best job at summing up the topics covered and the political context.  More like this, please?

One of the interesting quotes from my perspective was Westly accusing Angelides of kicking off the negative campaign season.  People on the distribution lists for both campaigns know that the negative campaign season began a long time ago, and Westly’s been playing hard and mean too.  Witness, for example this attack in the guise of an opinion piece by Garry South, a consultant working for Steve Westly.

I’m looking forward to watching the debate, and I’ll see how the coverage reflects the reality.
