I’m out of the state right now, but no rest for the bloggers, right? So, how about one of my favorite subjects – John Doolittle’s corruption?
As he nears his indictment, John Doolittle continues to pay more money to lawyers (Sac Bee) for campaign finance matters. Ol’ 15% Doolittle paid Wiley Rein $44,318 in 2006, with the original retainer to the firm, which specializes in government and ethics law, being paid in August.
Doolittle feigns ignorance of whether he is under investigation, but he sure doesn’t mind taking his 15% percent of campaign donations. Abramoff is said to be singing like a canary, so it can’t be long until we begin to see some indictments out of that. With the recent talk of Jerry Lewis stepping down in CA-41, can Doolitle be far behind? In CA-04, we have a strong challenger with decent name recognition in Charlie Brown. This could be an interesting developing situation…
