The Republican Ouroboros Continues

The Yacht Party continues to desperately search for any reason to devour itself. The Secretary of State’s office has confirmed that there is now an effort going forward to recall Sen. Bob Huff [R-Diamond Bar] because he voted in favor of putting prop 1A on the ballot. He, like the rest of the Church of Reaganomics, signed a pledge to vote down any tax increases and apparently this violates it.

Huff won about 54% of the vote in 2008, but the Democrat only carried 38% and the remainder went to an unusually strong Libertarian candidate. Does anyone have a better idea of how well we’d be able to run candidates in this district if the recall is successful (and for that matter, Anthony Adams’ district?)

  1. I’ll donate money to recall him. Senator Huff is notoriously anti-gay and he voted to approve proposition 1A. Two strikes against Senator Huff for this gay Republican.

IT IS IMPRESSIVE THAT a good number of his constituents from a conservative leaning town wanted to recall him.

When Senator Huff was an assemblyman he wrote two regressive pieces of legislation targeting LGBT students.

AB 2085, would delete existing civil rights protections related to instructional materials in the Education Code. Current law prohibits discrimination based on actual or perceived sexual orientation (including heterosexuality, homosexuality and bisexuality), disability, gender, nationality, race or ethnicity, and religion.

AB 2086, would discourage schools from offering diversity programs that discuss sexual orientation or gender identity issues by requiring prior written consent of a student’s parent or guardian. The bill would seriously hinder a school’s responsibility to foster a safe school environment and prepare young people to be successful in our diverse society.
