July 15 Open Thread

Hey, it’s the Ides of July, and the CDP E-board is coming up tomorrow! What could be better? Let’s get to the links:

* SF Assessor/Recorder Phil Ting is holding an Oakland town-hall to discussing the split roll. The move would take commercial property off the Prop 13 system and allow them to be taxed at their current valuations. The idea is very much in the nascent planning stages, but why not head out to Laney College and talk about it on Tuesday, July 27.

* The SacBee AdWatch finds Meg Whitman’s latest attack ad to be either deceptive or outright wrong.

* The delay of the water bond is going to get wrapped up in all of the other legislative fights.

* CalBuzz wonders why Obama isn’t embracing his inner Omar.

* There will be money to protect AB 32 by defeating Prop 23.

  1. I’m glad to see someone is starting to see the light on property taxes, I think the split roll is perfect, Residential can stay where It is under Prop 13(1978), I wonder if the Howard Jarvis bunch will object?

Cause If they were to object It would say their not being realistic, Only 60’s and 70’s era cheapskates…

On to Megs Campaign, Most of what She says happened didn’t happen(a lie) or She leaves info out(Lie of omission) or She twists stuff to suit peoples memories, She must be thinking no one alive today remembers back then, Well I do and If I do then so do others. Her commercials are pure drek and are an Insult to History and to California in General.

Meg Whitman stop these lying attack ads, They make You look like a Liar, You ought to know better too, Shame on You. Act Your age and not Your shoe size.

AB32 should be protected, One of those companies that AB32 helped to create though is solarcity, I’d looked them up after seeing one of their TV commercials and their slick website, I thought they really wanted My business(they did), Until they found I live in a Mobilehome(which I own outright as I have clear title to It), Then they said maybe one day they would do installs on Mobilehomes(Mines a 1987 Fleetwood with a peaked roof), But not for now(if ever), nope, not a chance(I think I’d have to buy the company to get them to do It, If I could buy the place that is).

  2. Since they were primarily apartment owners, and would be classified as commercial property, they will whine mightily at the suggestion!
