    About 1,000 teachers had listed their classroom needs on the website DonorsChoose.org, where educators can list projects that need funding.

    Founder Charles Best said Tuesday that a woman called and asked what it would cost to fund every California teacher’s wish list. The caller was Hilda Yao, executive director of the San Francisco-based Claire Giannini Fund.

    After providing an estimate, Best says he later received a check in the mail for more than $1.3 million to cover the 2,233 projects listed by California teachers.

    Nice to have a bit of good news once in a while.
