We hope you’ll join Democrats of all ages to help end hunger in the Bay Area.

As faithful Calitics readers know, Democrats Work has been pushing a new “politics of service” across the country – from the Bay Area to the Chattahoochee River in Georgia.  We’re proud that in about a year and a half, we’ve been able to mobilize over 1500 grassroots Democrats at more than 70 service events in a handful of states.  By putting our values into action through service, Democrats are showing that we are walking the walk everyday.

We’re proud to stand with those who push for more progressive legislation, protest injustice, elect better Democrats, and make tangible contributions in their communities when no one is watching.  We are part of the progressive infrastructure that is going to remake this state and country.  And we’re proud to offer one more way for people to make a difference. Join us on Saturday on the march towards progress.

Save Some Time: Pre-Register for Sunday’s Caucuses Online

(And get there early. Props to our CDP – promoted by Bob Brigham)

This Sunday, April 13, you get to pick the delegates who will be sent from California to the Democratic National Convention in Denver next August. Whether you support Sen. Hillary Clinton or Sen. Barack Obama, you’ll have a chance to determine who goes to Denver and who watches on TV.

The caucuses to elect the delegates will take place on April 13th everywhere in the state at 3:00 p.m., with sign-in and voting starting at 2:00 p.m. You must be in line by 3 p.m. to receive a ballot.

Every aspect of the 2008 Democratic presidential race has generated lots of enthusiasm and excitement, so we expect that these caucuses will be very well attended. This raises the likelihood of long lines as people sign in to get their ballots.

In order to cut down on the waiting time, the California Democratic Party has developed the widget below to allow attendees to pre-register online.

The deadline for pre-registration is Thursday, April 10th at 12:00 Noon.

Just fill in the blanks and follow the prompts. You can cut down on the long lines and help out the campaign volunteers who are staging these events by taking this simple step ahead of time.

SIGN UP ONLINE TO ATTEND A DNC DELGATE SELECTION CAUCUS.

More info on the caucuses on the flip.

You can only vote in one caucus and you MUST vote in the Congressional district where you are registered as a Democrat. Please plan to get to your caucus early so you have plenty of time to park and sign in. You must be in line by 3:00 p.m. in order to receive a ballot.

We hope you take this opportunity to come out and participate in the next step of the historic 2008 presidential election and help choose the delegates who will represent you at this summer’s Democratic convention.

UC Davis threatens to take Clinton to collections

The Clinton campaign money troubles are pretty well known.  They have been delaying payment to increase their cash on hand and ability to pay for campaign activities rather than pay off their debts.  The media, particularly Politico, which brought me to this hilarious article by the local Sacto CBS station.

Bill Clinton may have charmed the crowd at UC Davis in January, when 7500 people showed up to see him, but charm has not covered the Clinton campaign bill.

The University of California in Davis is ready to take the Clinton presidential campaign to a collection agency if they do not pay back the thousands of dollars they are still owed.

The campaign owes UC Davis $6,350.  The Marching Band cost $500, cleanup $250 and $5,600 for the services of the UC Davis police.

“I’m more than willing to be held accountable for it, because that’s the way life is,” Hillary Clinton said to a Montana crowd on Monday. There is no word whether she’ll apply that philosophy here, or if she even knows about the outstanding debt.

CBS 13 tried to get a quote from the Clinton campaign, but no dice.

UC Davis is planning to put its final bill out this week, and if the debt has not been settled within a month, they are going to turn the matter over to a collection agency.

Something tells me that going to the press will speed up the payment.

Free Tibet: San Francisco March

After the jump are a whole bunch of pics. The SFPD set a very laid back tone by leaving the riot gear at home and to date there have been no arrests (there was one arrest, but he apparently was just a regular San Francisco “crazy guy” and while in proximity to the protesters, had nothing to do with them).

I’ll have more from the Candle Light vigil tonight. And if I can catch a ride, then pics from Jackie Speier’s party.
