* 174 School districts are on the fiscally troubled list. A new record!

* $200K in waste! OMG…wait, that’s what they found for the whole year last year? Out of a nearly $100 Billion budget?  Umm…ok. Who thinks there isn’t more waste in the Apple supply cabinet?

* Ron Nehring and John Burton got together today to chit-chat at the Sacramento press club.  Fun times, that.

* ICE Agents raided a plant in Fullerton.

  1. According to my calculator, $200,000 on $100 billion amounts to 2.00e-06, or .000002, 2-millionths of the budget.  I think that’s even within Japanese manufacturing tolerances.  The idea that it’s the key to our budget mess is ridiculous.

Arnold was going to balance our budget by cutting out the “waste and fat.”  Once he was elected, you didn’t hear much about that, cause there basically wasn’t much.  Unless, of course, he meant “any money spent on someone who is poor, sick or in school” is wasted.

  2. which isn’t the impression you get from the SacBee headline, though it’s apparent when you go to the link.

But “state workers” will get the PR hit.

  3. than they’re supposed to. Well, they’re guessing that’s how much less they’ll get. No one really knows, and it seems unlikely the Legislature will have a budget before school starts.
